Ian Robertson street portrait by 'Howling Dingo'

Ian Robertson

I'm Ian Robertson, a Glasgow-based photographer drawn to people, place, light, and the small details that make ordinary streets worth a second look.

I shoot intermittently, usually on foot, and publish the resulting sets here. The work spans urban life, landscape and architecture: whatever catches my eye before it disappears.

Photography is one part of a broader portfolio life, alongside software engineering and hypnotherapy/CBT practice, as I move toward a more self-directed way of working.

Photographic approach

I work observationally, not staged. Walking is where the work happens: responding to available light, passing gestures, overlooked details, and the quiet relationships between people and their surroundings.

I'm after images grounded in a specific place and moment. Strong composition, natural atmosphere, honest detail over polish. Individually, a photograph is a moment. Together, as a set, they build something more.

Experience

Years behind the camera, shooting both film and digital. Much of my recent work comes from personal projects and photo walks around Glasgow and the west of Scotland: street life, urban change, architecture, landscape.
I edit for coherence across a set, handle digital processing end-to-end, and publish for the web in a way that keeps the character of the original scene intact.
