Edinburgh city centre becomes a stage for passing encounters in this festival-time sequence. Crowded thoroughfares, historic façades and cobbled streets hold a continual movement of visitors, performers, workers and onlookers. Publicity, shopfronts, stalls and improvised gathering points reveal a city where attention is constantly being invited, exchanged and redirected. The photographs move between wide views of the street and close studies of faces, hands, costume and gesture, following the many ways people occupy a shared urban space. From flyers and conversation to music, puppetry and caricature, the set observes performance not only as an event, but as part of everyday movement through Edinburgh.
